Many people underestimate how important breakfast is for our physical and mental performance. After an overnight fasting period of 8 to 10 hours, the body needs new energy. A healthy breakfast not only provides the necessary energy, but also activates the metabolism, stabilizes blood sugar levels and helps to avoid cravings during the day.
A balanced breakfast consists of complex carbohydrates (e.g. oatmeal, wholemeal bread), high-quality proteins (e.g. eggs, yoghurt, quark) and healthy fats (e.g. nuts, avocado, chia seeds). Add fresh fruit and vegetables and you have a nutritious meal that keeps you full for a long time. It is important to avoid industrially processed products such as sugared cornflakes, white flour products or chocolate creams, as they only provide energy for a short time and cause blood sugar levels to fluctuate greatly.
A good breakfast can consist of a porridge with banana, nuts and cinnamon, for example, or wholemeal bread with avocado and a soft-boiled egg. A homemade smoothie with spinach, apple, lemon and ginger is also a nutritious alternative for a quick start to the day.
Don't forget to drink plenty of fluids in the morning: a glass of lukewarm water immediately after getting up helps digestion and stimulates the internal organs. Eating breakfast regularly not only gives the body energy, but also lays the foundation for healthy eating habits for the rest of the day.
