Sustainable recipes for the Mediterranean diet
The Mediterranean diet is scientifically regarded as one of the healthiest and most sustainable nutritional concepts. It lowers the risk of numerous diseases such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes while promoting environmentally conscious consumption. The basic ingredients include olive oil, fresh fruit and vegetables, wholegrain products, pulses, nuts and regional fish and seafood.
For a sustainable diet, it is important to give preference to seasonal and regional products, consciously control the consumption of animal-based foods and avoid food waste. This article presents some healthy and environmentally friendly recipes that fit in with the Mediterranean diet.
