Water - the underestimated hero of our health

Although water is vital for us, many people neglect to drink enough in their everyday lives. Yet water is involved in almost all metabolic processes in the body: It helps with temperature regulation, the removal of toxins, nutrient absorption and blood circulation. Our body consists of around 60 % of water - this alone shows how essential it is to drink regularly and sufficiently.

Even a slight lack of water can have a negative effect: headaches, tiredness, concentration problems, dry skin and a weakened immune system are just some of the possible consequences. It becomes particularly critical in old age, with children, during sport or at high temperatures, as the need for water is then even higher.

Adults should at least 2 to 2.5 liters of water per day drink - even more, depending on your activity level and the outside temperature. Water is the best choice, followed by unsweetened herbal teas. Sugary drinks, soft drinks and excessive caffeine consumption, on the other hand, can disrupt rather than support the water balance.

A practical tip: always having a reusable drinking bottle to hand reminds you to drink regularly. Flavoring water with natural ingredients such as lemon, cucumber, ginger or mint also makes it tastier and more interesting - without any added sugar.

Drinking regularly is one of the simplest but most effective health habits. It improves concentration, aids digestion, helps with weight loss and promotes a radiant complexion.
